Plant-based Eats

Introducing: Plant-based Eats. A collection of easy, delicious plant-based recipes created by Stephanie Watson, nutritionist and skin therapist.

The purpose of this cookbook was not only to provide delicious recipes and look beautiful. It had to be functional in a kitchen as well as include the nutritional facts and knowledge behind the recipes, which would help the client understand why the recipes are put together.

Background and challenge

By dividing the book into sections, it became easy for the client to navigate and find specific recipes. Additionally, custom icons were created to quickly provide an overview of serving size, cooking time, etc. The introduction pages consisted of nutritional facts and tips, which were also included in a small did you know section at the bottom of every recipe. Finally, the font size was increased to make the recipe texts more legible to make it easier to read and navigate within the recipes whilst working in a kitchen.

  • “Ellie has been incredible to work with. She made the process of creating the cookbook so easy and fuss-free. I loved her design suggestions, attention to detail and the guidance she provided when developing the layout and flow of the book…

  • …Her communication was outstanding and I really appreciated her regular check-ins to ensure I was aware of her progress and when to expect the design to be completed. She truly immersed herself into this project and took the time to get to know exactly what I was after. Highly recommend!”

Result and impact

The workshop included working with brand DNA, and brand archetypes, plus describing the vision and mission. Additionally, we used the business model canvas to look into what the brand’s audience and key partners. With the collected insights, a new branding strategy and design guidelines were created.
